The Prosecco Hills

Shaped by watercourses and in ancient times by the glacier of the Piave River and its tributaries, the Prosecco hillsides between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.

The beauty of the landscape, characterized by rows of vines perched on hills with improbable slopes, goes hand in hand with the goodness of its wine, now renowned throughout the world: Prosecco Superiore Conegliano-Valodobbiadene. DOCG since 2009 the entire area gathers 15 municipalities, all dedicated to quality viticulture devoted to the utmost preservation of the natural heritage.

Driving along the prosecco road where small vineyards perched on ridges coexist with patches of forest, forest, and scattered hedges is always a wonderful experience, whatever the season chosen. The small villages scattered here and there along the territory, as well as the numerous wineries, represent an almost obligatory stop, perhaps to catch one’s breath and taste an excellent glass of wine.
Prosecco Superiore is mostly known in its sparkling version, which ranges from the Dry type, the most amabile, to Extra Brut, the driest.

Of note for enthusiasts is the only cru of Prosecco Superiore: that of Cartizze, just over a kilometer of terroir characterized by an exceptional microclimate that gives great sparkling wines with an intense, floral bouquet.
