Located at Palazzo Bovio – Cumano in the city center, the “Carlo Rizzarda Gallery of Modern Art” is one of the jewels in the crown of the city of Feltre.
Inside, the visitor will find a unique selection of great value. In addition to numerous works by Rizzarda himself, one of the greatest wrought-iron artists of the early 20th century, the gallery brings together his private collection donated to the town of Feltre by will back in 1931. An important bequest that includes in addition to sculptures, chinoiserie, decorative art objects and furniture some paintings by, among others, Gugliemo Ciardi, Felice Casorati, Carlo Carrà, and Egon Schiele.
In 2006, journalist and art critic Liana Bortolon, a native of Feltre, helped further enrich the collection by donating her private collection of about 200 works, mostly 20th-century, to the city. These include a lithograph by Marc Chagall and a plate with a pitcher by Pablo Picasso.
