The “Via Claudia Augusta”

The Via Claudia Augusta, built at the behest of the Roman general Drusus Major, is an extraordinary civilian work constructed around 50 CE for the purpose of connecting the Adriatic to the Danube via the Alps. A road that winds along wonderful landscapes and crosses 3 nations: Italy, Austria and Germany, posing itself as an ideal bridge between several cultures and a unique symbol of cooperation among peoples.
The section that affects the Feltre area starts from Castel Tesino in the province of Trento, passes through Pedavena, arrives in Feltre and continues to Cesiomaggiore, Busche and, forded the Piave River, laps the municipalities of Lentiai and Mel.
For the more daring amateur cyclists, from Cesiomaggiore one can reach the Pradorego Pass, which is of great scenic appeal but certainly not ideal for beginners. A rather steep first section (with a gradient of more than 10 percent) is followed by an easier route, but still one that requires good physical condition.
Our guides are at your disposal to walk this ancient Roman road, an unforgettable stop in the heart of the Dolomites and history.
